What is vaginismus? Vaginismus is a medical condition where the pelvic floor muscles around the vagina tighten to the extent that sex is painful and not very nice or altogether impossible. The tightening of the muscles happens involuntarily – the woman may not even know it is happening. Sometimes, muscles spasms, in addition to the tightening of the muscles, also occur.

There are two types of vaginismus – primary and secondary.

1. Women with primary vaginismus have never been able to have sexual intercourse, and also usually not able to use a tampon or have great difficulty having a pelvic exam.

2. Women with secondary vaginismus have had sexual intercourse without problems in the past, but suddenly find themselves unable to complete intercourse. There could be many reasons for this including having been sexually assaulted.

Vaginismus can present itself in a number of different ways. Sometimes, sexual intercourse is painful – either sex burns or stings for the woman, or the man feel that the vagina is too tight for his penis. In other instances, sex may be impossible – the pelvic floor muscles tighten to the extent that the man cannot insert his penis at all. Other symptoms of vaginismus are an inability to use a tampon or have a pelvic exam and back muscles spasms during otherwise comfortable sexual encounters.

The symptoms may also be psychological. If you tend to avoid sex because it has been painful in the past, then vaginismus might be to blame - there may be other causes such as a sexually transmitted disease and you should seek medical help.
Likewise, women who have experienced rape or that were sexually molested as children often experience periods of vaginimus.

After experiencing these kinds of problems with one sexual partner, the problem of vaginismus tends to multiply itself. Women often then avoid relationships for fear of dealing with this problem, or they commit themselves to relationships they cannot consummate or are just platonic because they don’t want to face the hassles of dealing with sexual intercourse. It doesn’t have to be this way, if you have vaginismus it is definitely treatable.

Treatment of  vaginismus

The first step in treating vaginismus is to know that you actually have it and are not alone. Millions of women experience this problem. There are marriages that have never been consummated for this reason; don’t assume that just because a woman is in a relationship that they do not have this problem. If you are in a relationship, it is crucial to have a supportive partner as you embark upon treatment. If you are not in a relationship, you can still start treatment on your own, so you will feel more confident self assuredly about your future relationships.

Treatment comes in a series of steps. The first steps involve dealing with any psychological or emotional issues that might be causing your vaginismus, so you can learn to come to terms with your sexuality and yourself as a sexual being. Once you have become comfortable with the idea of wanting to be sexually active and desiring sex, then you can begin a series of so called “insertion” treatments, to help you learn to control your pelvic floor muscles.

These steps walk you through becoming comfortable with inserting small items, like cotton buds, into your vagina, and building up until you can use vaginal dilators with ease. Through these exercises, you will learn to recognize the sign of your muscles tightening and how to ease this tightening on your own. After completing these steps, you can practice this same control of your muscles during sexual intercourse with a trusted and supportive partner, eliminating your vaginismus problem once and for all.

Stress management activities to you deal with stress:

1.     Just Breathe.  Breath in through your mouth and out through your nose slowly. Take deep breaths and count to 10 in between each breath.  Try to hold the air in your lungs for at least 10 seconds before exhaling through your nose;

2.      Get into a routine of watching a certain television program or radio program every evening and stick to it.  Make sure that it is entertaining and funny.  You can look forward to seeing this bit of entertainment each night and will put some stability in your life;

3.      Get a pet.  Although a pet may be stressful at first, a pet will force you to slow down when it comes to life.  Like people, animals thrive on routine.  In addition to getting you to slow down, a pet will also help you settle into a routine. Stoking a pet is also relaxing and is scientifically proven to reduce stress levels;

4.      Find a creative outlet.  Stifled creativity can be very stressful for some people.  This can also be the reason for your stress.  Taking up a hobby that is fruitful such as painting, writing, sewing or quilting can not only relieve your stress but eliminate the stress;

5.      Read a book or listen to an audio book before bed instead of taking sleeping pills.  Reading a book listening to an audio book is a natural way to relax and is a much better for insomnia than sleeping pills;

6.      Join a gym or ti chi class  and force yourself to go.  You may be more inclined to exercise if you actually shell out some money for the experience.  In addition to exercising, you will also get to meet different people;

7.      Join a group or a club where you can meet people who have interests similar to your own.  This will give you a renewed sense of confidence, enable you to make new friends and get your mind off of your own problems;

8.      Volunteer to help someone else.  Sometimes, just seeing and being around other people who are way worse off than you is a real eye opener and instant stress relief.  You end up doing something nice for another person who needs the help and everything gets put in its proper perspective;

9.      Take a walk or run around the block.  Sometimes, just getting out in the fresh air and exercising is a giant stress reliever.  Chances are that you will feel refreshed when you return home;

10. Just Cry! Crying, like laughing is a great way to release stress in an instant. Sometimes we all need a good cry. If you have been bottling up emotions, let it out by crying and chances are you will feel better. So rent a sad movie or two and get the box of tissues and have a good cry.

How would you know if you had acid reflux?
What are the symptoms acid reflux disease?
What does acid reflux feel like?
It feels like a burning sensation that affects the upper abdomen after a heavy meal.
The pain then goes up to the breastbone and to the chest.

Acid reflux disease is characterized by refluxing or backing up of the stomach acid into the esophagus. While it is normal to have heartburn occasionally, with out it being rated as acid reflux disease. But if heartburn occurs twice to thrice a week, it is more probably a symptom of acid reflux.

In many cases, the symptoms of acid reflux disease occur after a fatty meal, when drinking liquor or beverages which contains caffeine, when lying down right after meal and worse when smoking. And because of these unpleasant sensations brought about by acid reflux, it can severely affect your health and your lifestyle.

The symptoms are so obvious that you do not need a doctor to diagnose it.

For the symptoms acid reflux disease, there are a variety of treatments that you can choose from.
# Symptoms which occur less than five times in a month can easily be treated by over the counter medicines. Your doctor or pharmacist can give you pieces of advice on the kind of medicine appropriate to ease your symptoms acid reflux disease.

# However, if your body does not work well with the prescribed medicines, it would be best to shift to a new one or seek for another option. Medicines formulated from natural herbs have less or no side effects.

# For cases of acute acid reflux, surgical treatment may already be recommended to you. The standard treatment that has been preferred for a long time is called nissen fundoplication. In this surgical procedure, the stomach is wrapped to reinforce the sphincter and thereby preventing the stomach acid from refluxing.

Some simple steps that can work together with your medications will effectively reduce your symptoms acid reflux disease.

Things to be changed include:
Refraining from smoking and minimizing the alcohol intake.
Salty foods have been found out to aggravate acid reflux disease as much as the fatty foods. Taking extra table salts in your meal can expose you to graver risks.
Obesity doesn’t only harm the heart but can worsen acid reflux disease as well. The excess fat in the abdomen amplifies the pressure in it causing the stomach acid to rise up to the gullet.

So diet must be intensively watched out so as to avoid the symptoms and the discomfort they caused.

Natural cure of this disease also includes exercise. Proper stretching can help reduce the pressure on your stomach and subsequently helping you fight the symptoms of acid reflux disease.

If you can follow the preventive measures against acid reflux disease, then you are on your way to beating acid reflux without turning to medications.

Home Remedies for Removing Unwanted Warts

If you are looking for an effective, but low-cost way to have your wart or warts removed, you may want to think about trying a wart removal home remedies.
If you are interested in getting started, a few popular wart removal home remedies are described below.

The most popular home remedy used to remove warts involves duct tape.
Duct tape is effective at removing or eliminating warts, and this technique has been backed by scientific research.

To try this home remedy wart removal you will need to apply duct tape to your warts. After keeping the warts covered, for about a week with the duct tape, you will want to remove the tape, soak your wart in water, and then scrub it with a pumice stone. If your wart does not come off right away, you are advised to repeat the procedure again, for at least another one to two weeks.

Aloe is effective an effective home remedy for eliminating warts. You need to soak a small cotton ball in aloe, preferably the gel. After the soaking has occurred, for around about a minute or so, you will want to tape the cotton ball to your wart. You will want to add aloe to the wart or piece of cotton every few hours. By leaving the cotton ball in place, with the exception of changing it daily, your wart should fall off with in a few days or weeks.

Caster oil is also considered an effective wart removal remedy. When using caster oil, you will want to apply the oil to your wart. It is then suggested that you rub or massage the area with your fingers. After doing this day and night for a number of weeks, your wart should disappear. You could also use caster oil by apply it directly to the wart, twice a day, and by keeping it covered. By keeping the wart covered with a bandage, only to remove it when changing, the wart should disappear after about three weeks.

The above mentioned home remedies are just a few of the many that you can find online or in a home remedy book. Additional remedies that may work include using chalk, dandelion, aspirin, bananas, baking soda, papaya, lemon juice, and milkweed.

You will want to refrain from using any items that you may be allergic too. If and when you are in doubt, it may be best to choose another home remedy to use.

It is also important to remember, when using home remedies for wart removal, that the results are not guaranteed. Just because one home remedy worked for someone else, it does not mean that it will also work for you. However, with a wide variety of different home remedies to choose from, you are sure to find at least one successful home wart removal remedy that will work for you..

We’ve all had those nights that we just couldn’t find the comfortable part of the bed and spent hours tossing and turning till the break of dawn. Why does this happen?

Well, your desire to “toss and turn in bed”, really isn’t the result of you not being comfortable, it’s the result of you not feeling or being relaxed. On a deeper level our mind wants us to relax, but most of the times we interpret the message as “find a comfortable spot on the bed.” True relaxation comes from deep within you, and has to be triggered by your inner thought process.

If you’re lying in bed and you get the urge to toss or turn, just wait, you’ll be surprised how quickly it fades! When you get the urge to toss and turn in bed, ask yourself “What can I focus on right now to feel more relaxed?” As you lie there for about 15 seconds, you’ll be surprised at how the urge to toss and turn in bed simply fades, and you realize that all you really want to do is relax.

Understand that if you do start tossing and turning in bed, it will not end with just ONE toss or turn, because of the momentum effect, you will just keep tossing and turning till the sun comes up!

Sometimes the urge to toss and turn in bed is really intense, or maybe you really are in a very painful position on your bed. If you absolutely MUST move, try moving in the following way:

1) Move very slowly. Remember what it feels like when you wake up in the morning and you’re very sleepy, do you move very quickly then?

2) As you move very slowly, put a big bright smile on your face, and take a deep breath.

Another reason why tossing and turning in bed keeps us awake is because we do it very quickly, and the more we do it, the more it agitates us! So move very slowly, and make sure to smile and breath deeply, you will feel the difference and experience a good nights sleep.

Avoiding Tossing and Turning

Tossing and turning is an often experienced phenomenon for most of us. There are nights when we are just not comfortable on the bed and keep tossing and turning all over, all through the night. What bothers us?

Tossing and turning is not a feeling of discomfort, it is actually an offshoot of our mental equilibrium that is not relaxed. Irrespective of our mind wanting us to relax, our bodies want to find a more comfortable spot on the bed, a result of misinterpretation. Relaxation has to come from within you and should be a result of your thought process.

Lying in a hammock on a hot summer day, on a Hawaiian beach would sound very relaxing. If you keep thinking about millions invested on the stock market that could take a beating, if and when it crashes, the hammock will not work wonders in relaxing you.

When you feel the urge to toss and turn on the bed, give it time, wait. It will go away faster than it came. Lie there and think about focusing your mind elsewhere more relaxing than where it was and the urge to toss and turn will be out of your system in about 15 seconds. The best part of this exercise is that you will realize that you need to relax and not try finding a comfortable place on bed.

If you start tossing and turning it becomes a never ending process for the night and will not stop till the morning.

At times when you feel that the urge to toss or turn is very high and you have to move, try it the following way:

1.	Move very slowly, as though you are just getting up from sleep in the morning.
2.	While moving try to smile at yourself and take a deep breath.

Tossing and turning keeps us awake because we tend to do it quickly and impulsively, the more quickly we do it, the more agitated we get. Try it in the way said above, you will feel the difference and probably get out of the habit in no time.

Skin has been in practice since ancient times, when home remedies were probably the only way to take care of skin. However, skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skin care routines. The herbal skin care recipes which once used to be common place are not so popular today (and even unknown to a large population). This transformation from herbal skin care to synthetic, can probably be attributed to two things – our laziness (or just the fast pace of lives) and the commercialization of skin care. Even herbal skin care products have been commercialized. These commercial herbal skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home. However, it seems that things are changing fast and more people are now opting for natural Skin care home remedies .
So what are these Skin care home remedies?

Aloe vera, which is an extract from Aloe plant, is one of the best examples of herbal skin care product. Freshly extracted aloe vera is a natural hydrant that helps in soothing skin. It also helps in healing cuts and treating sun burns.

A number of herbs are known to possess cleansing properties. Dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary herbs, are a few examples of such cleansers. Their herbal skin care properties get invoked when they are combined with other herbs like tea.

Lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel are good examples of herbs that are known to possess antiseptic properties. Lavender water and rose water also make good skin toners.

Tea plays an important part in Skin care home remedies. Tea extracts are used for treatment of skin that has been damaged by UV radiation.

Herbal extract oils present another means of herbal skin care. Tea tree oil, Lavender oil, borage oil and primrose oil are some popular oils used in herbal skin care. Some fruit oils (e.g. extracts from fruits like banana, apple and melon) find use in shower gels (as a hydrating mix)

Homeopathic treatments and aromatherapies also come under the umbrella of herbal skin care remedies.

Skin care home remedies are not only for the routine nourishing of skin but also for treatment of skin disorders like eczema and psorasis. Skin care home remedies don’t have any side effects (the most important reason for preferring them over synthetic products) Moreover, Skin care home remedies can be easily made at home, hence making them even more attractive. However, this does not mean that you should totally discard the synthetic products. Some people go to the extent of debating with their dermatologist or doctor, if he/she suggests a synthetic product. You should accept the fact that some skin orders might need usage of clinically proven non-herbal skin care products.

‘skin care for sensitive skin’ is governed by a few fundamental rules. However, even before we delve into how to care for sensitive skin, it’s important to understand what is classified as sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin is described as skin which is unable to tolerate any unfavorable conditions (environmental/other), and which easily gets irritated on contact with foreign materials (including skin care products). For this reason, some products are especially produced and labeled as sensitive skin care products. The degree of skin sensitivity can vary from person to person with its severity.
As a general rule all skin types respond unfavorably to detergents and other chemical based products. However, sensitive skin has a very low tolerance level to detergents and other chemical based products, which leads to sensitive skin getting damaged very easily and quickly. Sensitive skin care products either avoid the potential irritants or keep them at very low concentrations.

Here are a few tips for skin care for sensitive skin:
* Use products that are specially designed and labeled for sensitive skin. Also, read the instructions on the product to see if there are specific warnings associated with the product.
* Choose sensitive skin care products that have minimum preservatives, colorings and other additives
* Do not use toners. Most of them contain alcohol and are not recommended for sensitive skin.
* Wear gloves when doing laundry, dishes or other chemical based cleaning. If you are allergic to rubber or latex, wear cotton gloves below the rubber ones.
* Avoid excessive exposure to sun. Apply sunscreen lotion before getting out in the sun.
* Avoiding exposure to other pollutants and pollens is also important for sensitive skin care. So, cover yourself adequately before going out.
* Use hypoallergenic sensitive skin care products, if you can not find any specifically labeled as a sensitive skin care product
* Use soap-free and alcohol free cleansers for washing your body. Wash your face whenever you return from spending time out doors.
* Do not scrub or exfoliate your face too hard. It can cause reddishness and even inflammation.
* Do not leave makeup on for too long. Use hypoallergenic makeup and makeup-removers.

Treating sensitive skin care is very different from treating normal skin. Sensitive skin care is more about being careful about what you expose your skin to and what products you put on your skin.

There is a lot of discussion about the B complex vitamin and how vitamin b helps the body to perform a large number of functions. However, the B complex vitamin is not simply one very complicated vitamin. There are actually eight B vitamins that are included the B complex vitamin as well as choline, inositol and para-aminobenzoic acid.

The eight vitamins that make up the B complex vitamin are:
thiamine or vitamin B1
riboflavin or vitamin B2
niacin or vitamin B3
pyridoxine or vitamin B6
cobalamine or vitamin B12
folic acid,
pantothenic acid
biotin.

Every part of the B complex vitamin has its own individual function within the body but it is when they work together as the B complex vitamin that they provide essential maintenance for the body to remain healthy.

Vitamin B is water soluble and it is essential that enough of these vitamins are consumed on a daily basis for the body to remain healthy. The body cannot store water soluble vitamins such as the B complex vitamin and this leads to a regular intake being required.

The B complex vitamins are extremely beneficial for a number of conditions and may be needed in additional quantities at certain times in a person’s life. Of course, there is a recommended daily allowance for the B complex vitamins that varies according to the sex and age of a person. However, doctors and other health professionals have discovered the benefits of increasing the intake of the B complex vitamin to help overcome certain illnesses.

Research has found that the B complex vitamin to be beneficial in helping alleviate the symptoms of anxiety and stress. If a person has been unwell the B complex vitamin can be extremely valuable in aiding the recovery process. Fatigue can be a symptom of a multitude of illnesses as well as simply overdoing things but the B complex vitamin can help alleviate general tiredness and lethargy.

Vitamin b helps some skin conditions, such as dermatitis, quite a number of creams and other skin preparations contain added vitamin B complex that is absorbed by the skin to alleviate the condition. The condition of a person’s hair will also be greatly improved with sufficient B complex vitamin intake.

You have probably heard of someone dying from eating a peanut or having severe stomach cramps from eating eggs? In America alone there are about 12 million people that suffer from food allergies.

There are many types of foods that can cause food allergies but there are eight main categories of allergy causing foods and they are:
Milk,
Tree Nut,
Egg,
Wheat,
Soy,
Seafood,
Shellfish
Peanuts.

While they all can produce similar reactions some allergy causing foods have specific lists of symptoms.

Milk allergies are caused by the body’s reaction to specific proteins found in cow’s milk. The reactions can manifest in as nausea, vomiting, bloating, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Babies often have colic when they have a milk allergy. Correct diagnosis is important because these are similar symptoms to Lactose Intolerance which is not an allergy but a sensitivity and occurs due to the lack of a specific food enzyme called lactase. Milk allergies can also affect the skin in the form of hives, rashes and atopic dermatitis. In the nervous system it can manifest as distress and anxiety. Like most food allergies avoidance is the main treatment. Milk allergies not only occur from drinking milk, but can also occur when digesting any product that contains milk, such as cheese, ice cream and yogurt. However you must read labels as there are many other non-dairy products that contain milk components in them. One other important thing to remember is that if you eliminate milk products from your diet you must make sure you are getting enough calcium from other foods or supplements.

Egg allergies are mostly found in children. The symptoms are similar to those of milk. You must look carefully at labels because eggs are often used as an emulsifier in processed foods. There are egg substitutes which are made from other food products. When baking, a cup of applesauce can be used to replace one egg. Another thing to consider is that flu shots and vaccines contain egg products. Resent research has shown that a lot of patients have been growing out of their egg allergy as they get older.

While you might think tree nut and peanut allergies are similar they are not exactly the same. The biggest difference between tree nuts and peanuts are that peanuts aren’t actually a nut, they are a legume. Peanut allergies can cause frequent urination, night blindness, lowered blood pressure, swelling of the brain, hives and sometimes a flushed look to the person. Peanuts allergies can cause stomach upset and even erectile dysfunction. Avoidance of not only peanuts but any product made with any part of a peanut and even products made in the same place peanuts products are manufactured. Death from a peanut allergy is the most common kind of death from food allergies. The symptoms of tree nut allergies are similar to milk allergies.

Shellfish are actually a subcategory of seafood allergies. Seafood allergies encompass other types of fish and fish products. The symptoms are similar to milk allergies and avoidance is the only treatment.

Soy and Wheat allergies are the same. You must look carefully at labels and realize there are many products that use wheat and Soy products. Many menus are restaurants label which foods contain these products now.

The main point about having a food allergy is to read the label of all processed foods before consuming them, often ingredients are hidden in the fine print.	If you have an egg allergy inform your doctor before getting a flu shot. Food allergies need not disrupt your life, they can be managed.
